What Is Your Why?

Why are you in Online Business?

Lately I have been asking fellow marketers what advice they give people who ask them "how can I make money online?"
I have gotten some pretty interesting feedback and some outstanding food for thought as well.

The reason I have been asking that question is because it occurred to me that many coming into this industry have no idea what they truly want to do. Most enter the industry with dreams of making tons of money by doing next to nothing. - That reminds me of the guy on the cartoon Two Stupid Dogs that used to say "Isn't that cute...BUT IT'S WRONG!" ๐Ÿ™‚

I was watching a video post from Jon Olsonย and heard him say something that "hit the nail on the head."

He said:

"The problem with online business is that we have such a narrow view of why we are doing what we are doing."

There has never been a more true statement uttered about our industry!

Do we ever stop to think why we are doing what we do? Or do we simply "go through the motions" of earning money online - not really caring one way or the other what we "put out there," as long as we are earning money?

When I was in the military we learned to either Lead, Follow, or Get the H*** Out of the Way!

When we as marketers put our "wares" out for all to see we are in a since being leaders because we want people to "buy our stuff," or listen to what we have to say. There are folks out there who will actually "follow" us, and there are those that choose to maybe be inspired or motivated by what we have put out there and start "doing their own thing." That is great stuff!

But then there are the "negative Nancys" who always talk about why they "can't (or won't) do this or that" and at the same time try to put down those who ARE trying to "do this or that."

So, "what the heck is your point John?" you may be asking.

My point is that if you want to earn money in the Online Industry then you had better start thinking about what it is you want to do online and why.
Once you have figured that out - START DOING IT! There is no "perfect time" but the present. Get started, and continue tweaking and improving as you go along. When you fall on your face (notice I said 'when,'and not 'if'), get up, dust yourself off, learn from your mistakes, and CONTINUE MOVING FORWARD!

Surround yourself with wonderful, knowledgeable and encouraging people.

Become an active part in the industry and not simply someone looking to see what they can get OUT of it instead of thinking about what they can GIVE to it.

Get started right away folks! Go ahead! DO IT NOW!

    Good work John. You make good points and I like the examples you give. I agree that people don’t really think through what they are doing on line. It is an area where I like to help people discover their purpose, dream and then to set goals to achieve them. Without that strong why…things get tough.

    Love this point man, couldn’t agree with you more.

    The problem is, we have great advice. Fantastic training. Awesome leaders….

    But if affiliates and new marketers don’t start DOING things and putting plans into action, all of that training and advice will go for not.

    We need to start DOING in 2017 and stop waiting for the perfect storm…
