Passion to Business

Finding Your Niche

People often go into online business for the wrong reasons and often with false expectations. Remember the meaning of the word "Business" is quite different than the meaning of the words "hobby" or "pastime." A business requires an investment of both Time and Money, but there is one important element that is absolutely essential to business success - PASSION.

Why passion is so important

When we have passion about something we are doing that means we will not give up when "the going gets tough." The very nature of business includes ups and downs, highs and lows, good times and bad. Online business is no different.

Contrary to many advertisements you will see about earning money online, running an online business is no way to make lots of money in a short period of time. Yes, sometimes a person can get quite lucky, but that is the exception, not the rule. So, if you truly want to earn a serious income online, then you need to be in it for the "long haul," and be prepared for it to take you a few years to start earning some real decent money.

Your passion should become your niche

Once you identify what your passion is, then see how you can narrow it down to a particular need or desire that may exist in the market that has not been addressed - at least not to your liking. That is what a "niche" is all about - taking a general category - such as cars, and breaking it down to it's many "branches," such as antique cars, or how to repair cars.

Don't rush into things

I understand that you may have a desire to jump into things right away so that you can start earning tons of money, but that is exactly the problem - the belief that you can "get rich quick" in online business. Being in this industry (the online business industry) is not easy. It is also a process, not an isolated event such as joining a program or service.

So... digest the information I just gave you, identify and evaluate what your passion is, and then start educating yourself about what being in this industry is all about.

This information is also in the third followup mailing of my new list - John Brewer's How To Profit Online Tips. In the mailing I made a couple of recommendations for folks to get started with if they need some guidance. So, if you want to know what I recommended - subscribe to my list!

Thanks for reading my blah blah blah.

Please leave your comments – that is what makes the whole “system” work.

Till next time!

  1. John, what a fabulous post!

“The very nature of business includes ups and downs, highs and lows, good times and bad. Online business is no different.”

In fact, imho … online can demand even more passion than an offline business. You have no walk-ins to make your day. No special customers to share coffee. Even harder, online you are apt to run into criticism before you meet up with honest, heart-felt praise for your hard work.

Belief in one’s self runs a close second to passion because the reality of time, investment, and patience to make a return is never more obvious then when you take the risk and start your own business.

Good luck with your ” John Brewer’s How To Profit Online Tips.” Anyone who chooses to follow you will be in good hands.

    1. Hello Fran,

Thank you so very much for your kind words and for your wonderful insight as well.

“Belief in one’s self runs a close second to passion because the reality of time, investment, and patience to make a return is never more obvious then when you take the risk and start your own business.” – I agree with you 100%!

Thanks again for taking the time to comment! 🙂

  2. Hi John

This is a great post and points people in the right directions, instead of running all over the place, find your passion and from that will appear the niche to work in. Way to many people think to make money on line you have to give up your passion and flog what ever comes down the pike. But success comes when you follow and live your passion.

    Good content John

    1. Hello Nick,

      Thanks a lot!

Yes, if I can help give someone a point in the right direction I most certainly will.
This industry needs to change it’s focus.

      Always appreciate your comments! 🙂

    1. Hi Nancy 🙂

Yes, you are absolutely right! If it’s too much like ‘work,’ then maybe we are doing something wrong!

Thanks so kindly for your comment! 🙂

  3. Business is business. There are no shortcuts, magic answers, or ‘just promote this for success’ ways of doing it. You have to understand, and be willing to accept, that it will take time, effort, and yes, investment, to achieve. It becomes much easier to weather the ups/downs (of which there will be many) along the way when you find something you can believe in.

Yes, find your passion. But also realize that passion alone, will not a business build. Turn that into the skills and knowledge to move forward. Seek out what you need, and do the ‘work’ (it’s not some dirty four letter word) to achieve it.

Good post John! Continue down the path you are on. 🙂

    1. Hello Richard!
      Very wonderful words of wisdom.
All to often folks get into this for the wrong reason.
You are absolutely correct, we need much more than passion.
We need to be ready to roll up ours sleeves and get to work!

Thanks so much for your comment! 🙂

  4. I’m quite impress with the content on this post John. I’ve learnt a few and will implement your strategies. “When we have passion about something we are doing that means we will not give up when “the going gets tough.” The very nature of business includes ups and downs, highs and lows, good times and bad. Online business is no different”. Thank you for sharing.
