How Organized Is It?

Along our journey on the road of Internet Marketing, we end up joining lots of things. That simply cannot be avoided. No matter how often we tell ourselves 'I won't join another TE, Safelist, ETC... Bam! there we go joining the next one. Yes, we should really try to minimize joining things simply on a whim, but joining things is something we do in our industry - period.

The topic of this post is not about joining things or not, but about being ORGANIZED. That is a "four letter word" for some of us. Which is something that each one of us needs to examine in regards to our online business.

Often this is one of those things that we know we need to do, but put it off. Or even worse, we THINK we are quite organized, but when we are really honest, there are some changes we could make in the way we do things.

Some of us have our own methods of being organized that work quite well. If that is the case, maybe we could share that method with others by creating a report about it or even a program.

I have a couple of tools that I have such as a program for organizing my links and a program for being organized in general, but I must honestly admit that I don't always use them. Shame on me! Having the best plan in the world means NOTHING if we don't actually USE the things we have.

Being organized is a very important aspect of being in business. It is something that we all probably need to improve on. So give it some thought. How organized are YOU?

    Joining them is not really the issue, we should all be looking for new advertising sources, its more about managing how many we are a member of, ie join a new one and test and track it, then see if it can replace one your already using, so that you always have the best selection that your using.

    Hi, John. This is really important. I have become disorganized over the years. I use to be really organized in the past, but need to work on it again. It will save time and agony when working online. 🙂

    Yeah echoing what Steve said, new programs and joining them is healthy I think….If no new advertising sources where being launched, an industry would be stagnant….So it really does come down to tracking.

    If newer programs start performing, then I start paying more attention to them, and I find all that out through tracking for sure.

      Absolutely! We need new stuff in the industry and the people bringing in the new stuff (and the folks who are already promoting) need to understand the importance of tracking.

    Hey John,

    Is that a sexy new logo? I don’t remember it from previous visits here.

    Getting organize is important. Since I stick to a fairly rigorous schedule for posts and emails I do use a system to keep track of all that. I’ve tried adding in more like my Facebook postings but I haven’t mastered that yet. A work in progress.

    I also use a system to track all of the advertising sites I use , login ids , affiliate id’s usernames and passwords, plus notes on the effectiveness of the mailer and my ads.

    That keeps me pretty busy until I can get some of the tasks outsourced.

    Like Jon and Steve I consistently join new sites to test their effectiveness.

    I usually am very organized, but sometimes I get so busy that it gets easy to be all over the place with things. I do agree with John Brewer and Jon Olson that it is good to join new advertising resources. We need to constantly be putting ourselves out there for people to be able to find us and come to us. However, you don’t want to join too many advertising programs or resources because you will loose track of where you are. You should only join a few at a time, and track them first. Then later join more advertising resources as you go along. This way you can keep track of everything, and where you get your best results.
